Inspired by Chris Anderson, I thought why the heck can't I blog my way to a master's thesis? Besides, the archiving and tagging tools might be an answer to my prayer for a sensible method of organizing my thoughts and all the data accumulating in sticky notes, Internet bookmarks, spiral notebooks and just about any other scrap of paper I can get my hands on when a new thought formulates among the grey matter between my ears.
So, here I go. I’m not quite sure how I want to go about posting — how best to do it so it meets my end requirements, but I’ll figure it out.
My thesis explores how blogging and the extended new media tools are transforming publishing, particularly when it comes to newspaper and magazine publishing. I think the newspaper industry is paving a new path out of necessity that magazine publishers might want to take note of and consider. So this is my venue to explore that as well as get a feeling for how blogging works. I haven’t had a reason to blog before and I felt that the best way to understand almost anything is to dive in and try it.
By no means do I think I have the answers. Just a lot of questions. Questions I hope to continue exploring even after Nov. 2 when I turn in the draft of my paper. (I’m already behind my timeline so I’ll be working fast and furious to meet the target date.)
So, I don’t really expect anyone to be reading this I trudge along, but on the off chance you stumble upon this site and find something to comment upon, please do so. Just keep in mind that this is a learning process. I’m not purporting to be an expert on the topic. I’ll be analyzing information I’ve read by those in media whom I think know more than I do about this topic. Therefore, offer constructive criticism so that I can consider other points-of-view and reconsider my own. I’d like any conversation that ensues to deepen my understanding.
Note to self: Make type larger. (Unless I also plan to blog my way to blindness)
