I've been reading through different research reports and making notes that I won't outline here. But I just wanted to log in and make mention of the reports so that I remember to check back for updated information from time to time.
The Pew Project for Excellence in Journalism puts out an annual report on American journalism, now in its sixth edition "The State of News Media 2009" is a lengthy read — well worth it. Although mostly addressing news media, it still offered general insights I could use, since my paper is not geared specifically to "news" but magazine publishing in general.
And then there was the Standard & Poor's Industry Survey on Publishing & Advertising released Oct. 22, 2009. THe next update on this survey is scheduled for April 2010.
I have been keeping busy offline, and as my deadline approaches quickly I may abandon this blog for the time being. The time for collecting notes is over and its time to just dive in and write the paper itself. I have been finding the use of a blog for organization helpful, and may continue to collect my thoughts here after completing my thesis. We'll see.
